A representative selection of engagements across Form 5500 preparation, Schedule A reconciliation, DOL examination response, and welfare-plan diligence. Each is drawn from active practice and presented with identifying detail removed.

Cherry Park engagements are confidential by default. Each case study below has been redacted of client-identifying information and is published with explicit client consent. Specific employers, industries, and engagement scopes have been generalized where necessary.
Schedule A
Regional manufacturer · ~1,500 covered lives

A Schedule A disclosure that did not add up — and the three years of filings that followed.

A first-pass diagnostic surfaced indirect carrier compensation that had never been reported on the plan's Form 5500. We reconciled three prior years against the broker compensation agreements, framed the questions for the carriers, and worked with counsel to remediate before the next plan-year filing.

Outcome
Three years of filings corrected by amended return; broker disclosure protocols updated.

Filings · DFVC
Acquired welfare plan · ~900 covered lives

An acquired welfare plan had been operating without a current wrap document since 2021.

Post-acquisition diligence surfaced gaps in plan documentation, ERISA wrap arrangements, and Form 5500 reporting. We reconstructed the document set, prepared late filings under the DFVC program, and brought the plan current before the next reporting cycle.

Outcome
Three missing filings remediated under DFVC at minimum penalty; wrap document set restored for current year.

Audit
Multi-state nonprofit · ~3,000 covered lives

When the DOL sent the first letter, the employer had fourteen days. We had been preparing for a year.

A multi-state nonprofit retained Cherry Park for audit-readiness work six months before an investigation arrived. When the DOL letter came, the response materials were already organized to the format the investigators request. The examination closed without findings.

Outcome
Examination closed without findings or penalties; fiduciary file documented for future inquiry.
